WDA Suspends Training Providers

Following recent audits conducted by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), three training providers, Biz HR Solutionz Pte. Ltd., A.I. Industries Pte. Ltd. and Alliance Continens Pte. Ltd., have been suspended from all WDA funding and grant assistance. WDA has referred the matter to the Commercial Affairs Department of the Singapore Police Force.

SkillsFuture Crucial For Developing Future-Ready Workforce

The Switzerland-Singapore Business Forum, titled SkillsFuture – Developing a Future Ready Workforce, was held in Singapore today (12 July 2016). The Forum was jointly hosted by the His Excellency Mr Johann Schneider-Ammann, President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, and Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The Forum was part of Mr Schneider-Ammann’s State Visit to Singapore. It underscored the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and the national efforts by both Governments on skills development.

SkillsFuture Study Awards Offered To About 349 Singaporeans For Skills Mastery

349 Singaporeans have obtained the SkillsFuture Study Awards in recognition of their efforts and continued commitment to skills mastery. They include individual applicants as well as employees who were nominated by their employers from across 13 areas of specialisation, ranging from air transport to infocomm technology to social service. The highest number of awards were offered to those pursuing skills deepening in financial, built environment and internationalisation as their area of specialisation.

Singapore Celebrates Day Of The Seafarer 2016 & Launches Three SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programmes for the Maritime Sector

To celebrate the ‘Day of Seafarer 2016’, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU) and the Singapore Organisation of Seamen (SOS) jointly distributed 600 gift hampers to ships that called at our ports today. MPA will also be contributing an annual sum of $150,000 to support the work of various seafarers’ missions to look after the seafarers’ welfare when they call at our shores.

Republic Polytechnic Launches Skillsfuture Earn And Learn Programme For Hotel Sector With Largest Student Intake To Date

Republic Polytechnic (RP) welcomed the largest SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) cohort, with 48 fresh diploma graduates enrolled in its first intake of the ELP for Hotel Sector. The programme leads to a Specialist Diploma in Hospitality Business Management.
