18 Singaporeans And 11 Employers Receive Singapore's Highest Accolade For Skills Mastery And Skills Development

Eighteen Singaporeans and 11 employers received Singapore’s highest accolade for their dedication towards skills mastery and skills development in the fifth edition of the SkillsFuture Fellowships and SkillsFuture Employer Awards. Held this afternoon at the Marina Bay Sands, President Halimah Yacob graced the award ceremonies as the Guest of Honour and Patron of the Awards, and presented the SkillsFuture Fellowships to the 18 outstanding Singaporeans. Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, was also in attendance and presented the SkillsFuture Employer Awards to the 11 exemplary employers.

Inaugural National Skills Report On Priority Skills

Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, announced the launch of SkillsFuture Singapore’s (SSG) inaugural Skills Demand for the Future Economy Report. This national skills report aims to provide Singapore’s workforce with timely and relevant insights to guide their skills development journey. For this first publication, the focus is on helping Singaporeans identify priority skills to capitalise on opportunities in growth areas of our economy over the next three years.

23 Highly Skilled Youths Emerged As Gold Medalists In Worldskills Singapore 2021

A total of 23 young talents emerged as Gold Medalists in the gruelling WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) 2021 competition, which saw 165 competitors vying for top honours across 18 skill areas. Top Medalists, together with selected WSS 2020 winners, will form the 33-member contingent to represent Singapore at the 46th WorldSkills Competition (WSC) in Shanghai, China, in October 2022.

Appointment Of New Chief Executive For Skillsfuture Singapore

Mr Tan Kok Yam will be appointed Chief Executive (Designate) of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) on 18 October 2021 and Chief Executive of SSG from 1 November 2021. He will succeed Mr Ong Tze-Ch’in who will assume another senior position in the public service.
