SUSPECTED MEMBERS OF CRIMINAL SYNDICATE CHARGED

Several suspected members of a criminal syndicate which had submitted fraudulent claims to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) have been charged with a series of offences. These include engaging in a conspiracy to submit forged documents to fraudulently obtain training subsidies from SSG, and to conceal the benefits from such criminal conduct.

NEW CATEGORIES OF SKILLSFUTURE EMPLOYER AWARDS AND SKILLSFUTURE FELLOWSHIPS OPEN FOR NOMINATIONS TODAY

The SkillsFuture Fellowships and the SkillsFuture Employer Awards 2018 are now open for nominations for the second year. Starting from today, individuals and employers who meet the criteria can submit their nominations by 31 March 2018 through the SkillsFuture website at skillsfuture.sg/fellowships and skillsfuture.sg/employerawards. Two new categories are introduced to the SkillsFuture Employer Awards this year – Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Non-SMEs.

More Work-Learn Opportunities For Polytechnic And ITE Graduates - Launch of 7 New SkillsFuture Earn And Learn Programmes

First launched in 2015, the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) has seen steady progress. The number of ELPs offered has increased four-fold to 62 ELPs, while the number of sectors covered doubled to 28 sectors. To date, more than 1,200 Polytechnic and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) graduates have benefited from the ELP. To further support industry needs and increase the work-learn pathways available, Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Education, and Communications and Information announced enhancements to the ELP at the inaugural ELP Carnival today.

Landmark Partnership To Level Up Skills For Singaporeans To Seize FinTech Jobs

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), together with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), six local universities, and five financial associations, today sealed a landmark Memorandum of Intent (MOI) for the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) FinTech Collective, to jointly develop industry-ready professionals in meeting the strong demands of emerging infocomm technology (ICT) skills. The TeSA FinTech Collective was first announced by Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence, at the Singapore FinTech Festival welcome dinner on 13 November 2017.

6 in 10 Private Education Institution (PEI) Graduates In Full-time Permanent Employment 6 Months After Graduation

The Committee for Private Education released the results of its Private Education Institution (PEI) Graduate Employment Survey (GES) today. The annual survey aims to help students make better informed decisions on their education choices. 40 PEIs were surveyed in this exercise, of which 29 had graduates from full-time bachelor’s level External Degree Programmes (EDPs). Similar surveys have been conducted for the Institutes of Higher Learning – the Autonomous Universities (AUs), polytechnics, and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
