Official Launch Of Skills Framework For Logistics To Catalyse Transformation Of Logistics Sector

The Skills Framework for Logistics was officially launched at the grand opening of Supply Chain City this morning, as part of the government’s push to accelerate transformation across the logistics sector. The Skills Framework echoes Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s speech at the event, where he outlined the importance of productivity and innovation, alongside manpower efforts and enterprise-focused strategies, in catalysing the overall growth of the industry. PM Lee also discussed the support extended to companies to catalyse growth beyond Singapore.

Electronics Industry Transformation Map - Building The Electronics Industry Of Tomorrow

Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry), launched the Electronics Industry Transformation Map (ITM) today at the opening of JTC nanoSpace @ Tampines. Developed by a multi-agency team together with industry partners, unions and trade associations, the ITM maps out strategies that will build the electronics industry of tomorrow. Through the ITM efforts, the industry is expected to achieve a manufacturing value-add of S$22.2 billion and introduce 2,100 new PMET jobs by 2020.

More Individuals And Companies Benefit From Training In 2016

SkillsFuture Singapore has issued its first report on the State of the Training Industry. In 2016, a record 418,000 individuals took up 950,000 training places funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). This is an increase from 379,000 individuals in 2015 who took up 835,000 places. This increase is partly driven by the launch of the national SkillsFuture movement. It also corresponds with a rise in Singapore’s overall training participation rate to 42% in 2016, the highest in recent years.
