Mr Tan Kai Hoe Appointed as New Chairman of SkillsFuture Singapore Board

Mr Tan Kai Hoe, the Group President and Chief Executive Officer of Accuron Technologies Limited, will be appointed the Chairman of the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Board with effect from 1 October 2023. He will take over from Mr Wong Kim Yin, who will retire from the Board on 30 September 2023.

As Chairman of SSG Board, Mr Wong has played a pivotal role in driving the SkillsFuture movement. He oversaw the development and implementation of initiatives under the Next Bound of SkillsFuture, aimed at building a highly skilled workforce and enabling enterprise transformation. Key initiatives include partnering SkillsFuture Queen Bees to drive enterprise-led skills development, the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) to enhance capabilities of companies to conduct training at the workplace, and scaling up career transition programmes for mid-career workers. Mr Wong also guided SSG on the implementation of measures under the Resilience Budget to help Singaporeans cope with the impact of COVID-19. These include the Enhanced Training Support Package, the SGUnited Skills Programme, and SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Company Training.

Acknowledging Mr Wong’s contributions, Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing, said, “We are grateful to Mr Wong for his leadership as Chairman of the SSG Board. His guidance, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has elevated the culture of lifelong learning in Singapore and enhanced our workforce resilience and economic competitiveness.”

Minister Chan also extended a warm welcome to Mr Tan as the incoming Chairman of SSG Board. “With Mr Tan’s experience, we are confident that SSG will continue to advance the SkillsFuture movement under his charge to build a culture of continuous lifelong learning, and keep our workforce agile in acquiring the relevant skills to seize new opportunities.”

Mr Tan has been a member of SSG Board since 1 January 2023. In his professional and personal capacities, his other Boardroom responsibilities include Chairmanship of the Singapore Red Cross Council, Chairmanship of the Singapore Accreditation Council, and key Board appointments for various Accuron’s subsidiaries and investee companies.
