SkillsFuture Singapore To Roll Out A New SkillsFuture Earn And Learn Programme For The Air Transport Sector

A new SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) for the Air Transport sector will be introduced as SkillsFuture Singapore continues to expand the work-learn pathways available. This was announced by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of Education, Mr Chee Hong Tat today at a visit to SATS.

Launched in collaboration with SATS and SIM Global Education, the new ELP marks the first time a Private Education Institution is jointly curating content and delivering an ELP in the Air Transport sector with industry partners, in line with efforts to better support industry transformation and workforce needs. 

Commencing in October 2019, the 18-month ELP aims to equip participants with knowledge and skills such as design thinking, project management skills for business innovation, and business analytics skills for decision making to meet the skillsets required for trained Air Transport Officers. Participants can expect to take on jobs as Air Transport Officers, supporting areas such as ground operations, management and business functions. SATS is a strong supporter of SkillsFuture initiatives and has been awarded the SkillsFuture Employer Award in 2017. It has not only set up its own SATS Academy, but has also aligned the training programmes offered via SATS Academy with the relevant Skills Frameworks, such as the Skills Framework for Air Transport, Food Manufacturing, and Logistics. It has also recently completed a successful pilot run of the SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace for its employees in November 2018. The programme, which is contextualised to fit SATS’ needs, will allow its employees to embrace change and gain confidence to adapt in a technology rich environment, and to enhance their competencies needed in the emerging economy that is relevant to SATS’ operations. SATS is planning to enrol 3,000 of its employees into the programme.
