Following the cancellation of WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 due to the
Covid-19 pandemic, the WorldSkills global network has collaborated to
host the competitions for the various skill areas in 15 countries over a
12-week period from September to November 2022. The competition has
been renamed WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition and will have
over 1,000 competitors from 56 member countries competing in over 60
skill areas. Team Singapore is participating in skills areas held in
nine member countries.
Mr Tan Kok Yam, Chairman of the WorldSkills Singapore Council and Chief
Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore, said, “We are glad that the
competition will take place, despite the disruptions due to the COVID-19
pandemic. This will give our talented youths, who have worked very
hard, an invaluable opportunity to compete on an international stage.
Skills excellence is both a global and national priority, and we hope
that our youths will be inspired by Team Singapore’s passion and
dedication for skills mastery.”
