Media Factsheet On SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme
The SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme was introduced in July
2020 as part of the SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package. It will provide
14,500 traineeships and training opportunities for mid-career jobseekers
to gain meaningful industry-relevant experience that will better
position them to take on employment as the economy recovers. Under the
programme, individuals can choose either an attachment or a full-time
training course.
Full-Time Training
Full-time training courses under the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways
Programme range from six to 12 months. These courses are hosted and
delivered by market-leading, reputable companies in selected sectors,
and are designed to help PMET mid-career jobseekers acquire
industry-relevant skills that can help them secure new job
opportunities. Companies are selected based on their capability to
develop and conduct quality training in these in-demand skills for their
respective sectors.
Who Is It For?
The full-time training courses are open to Singapore Citizens and
Permanent Residents, with 2 or more years of working experience. They
are intended for mid-career jobseekers impacted by the economic
consequences of COVID-19.
Each trainee will receive a monthly training allowance of $1,500 for the
duration of the training. Course fees are highly subsidised, and the
nett fees will range from $500 for a six-month course to $1,000 for a
12-month course after Government subsidy.
Eligible individuals can use their available SkillsFuture Credit to
offset these course fees, including the top-ups announced in February
2020. Trainees will also receive career advisory assistance to help them
in their job search as part of the programme.
Participating Companies
For a start, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be partnering Bosch, Google, IBM, NVIDIA, PBA Robotics, Shopee and Siemens to roll out full-time training programmes. This will cover various sectors including manufacturing, infocomm technology and media. SSG will progressively expand the list of companies, sectors and courses to provide more training opportunities for PMET mid-career jobseekers.
