What is SkillsFuture Series about?
SkillsFuture Series is a series of curated work-skills related short and modular courses focusing on eight emerging areas – Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Tech-Enabled Services, Digital Media, Advanced Manufacturing, and Urban Solutions.
This new initiative aims to equip working adults with specific skills sets to meet changing job demands in the eight emerging areas, enabling them to stay relevant and competitive for the future. Individuals will gain access to quality industry-relevant programmes starting with over 400 courses catered at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
How will I benefit from SkillsFuture Series?
Individuals can access affordable and quality training through SkillsFuture series to equip themselves with skills needed for the economy. They will also be able to find courses that cater to different levels of skills proficiency to suit their training needs.
Are there plans to expand the scope of the emerging/critical areas in future?
SkillsFuture Singapore will continue to review the skills needs of existing and new industries. Where relevant, SSG will work with the IHLs and private training providers to identify new emerging areas / sub-areas and drive the development of new training programmes under the SkillsFuture Series to ensure they keep pace with industry and workplace needs.
Will there be tie-ups with employers to offer job opportunities after I complete the courses?
There are no plans for now.
Are there any cash incentives for participation in SkillsFuture Series?
How is SkillsFuture Series different from other SkillsFuture initiatives like TESA and SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace?
The SkillsFuture Series, TESA and SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace serve different objectives:
• The SkillsFuture Series is a series of curated work-skills related short and modular courses focusing on eight emerging areas - Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Tech-Enabled Services, Digital Media, Advanced Manufacturing, and Urban Solutions. It aims to equip working adults with specific skills sets to meet changing job demands in the eight emerging areas, enabling them to stay relevant and competitive for the future.
• TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) is targeted at providing training opportunities in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, for ICT and non-ICT professionals to develop relevant ICT skills.
• The SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace will equip Singaporeans with the foundational digital skills required at the workplace and in their daily lives, and encourage a positive mind-set towards change.
Who is eligible to sign up for courses identified under SkillsFuture Series?
The SkillsFuture Series initiative is open to all Singaporeans. However, respective training providers may impose eligibility criteria on their courses. The criteria may vary depending on the course. You may find out on the details from your Training Provider.
Where can I access the list of courses classified under SkillsFuture Series?
How do I register for the courses?
Individuals may register for the courses directly with the training providers indicated under each of the courses.
The courses which I am interested in are currently not available under SkillsFuture Series. Will there be future updates to the courses available? If yes, what is the frequency of updates?
SSG will expand the list of courses under the SkillsFuture Series periodically. Individuals who are interested in a course that is not currently found under the series may write to SSG through the feedback portal. https://portal.ssg-wsg.gov.sg/feedback
What kind of industry qualifications/ certificates can I get upon course completion?
The qualifications/certifications that individuals can obtain will depend on the course offered by the training provider.
How can I be assured that the modular courses would be applicable at the workplace?
Courses offered by Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) and private training providers need to be industry-relevant in order to qualify for SkillsFuture Series. The take-up of these courses is driven by industry demand. SSG will work with IHLs and private training providers to closely monitor the take-up, and will introduce new programmes and tweak existing ones to ensure that the programmes meet the needs of the industry and workforce.
Is there a restriction on the number of courses I can attend and be funded from SkillsFuture Series?
Funding Related Matters
What is the funding available for the courses? Who is eligible for funding for courses identified under SkillsFuture Series? Is it applicable to both self-sponsored and company-sponsored applicants?
To ensure course fees remain affordable, SSG will provide up to 70% course fee subsidy for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents. This will be applicable to both self-sponsored and company-sponsored applicants. Individuals can offset the remaining course fees using their SkillsFuture Credit. Eligible individuals can further benefit from other SSG’s subsidies up to 95% such as WTS, ETSS and the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.
What is the funding criteria for the courses? Do I need to achieve a minimum attendance rate and pass the assessment?
To qualify for the SSG subsidy an individual must meet the following criteria
• Be Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
• Must successfully enroll and be accepted into the training programme
Can I use his/her SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the course fees?
Yes, the individual may choose to use SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the course fees.
Will there be enhanced funding for Singaporeans aged 40 and above?
Yes. Singaporeans aged 40 and above will be eligible for the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy.
Will there be enhanced funding for Singaporeans with WTS letters?
Yes. Singaporeans with WTS letters will be eligible for 95% course fee funding when they sign up for any course approved for WTS funding.
Will there be enhanced funding for SME Sponsored trainees?
Yes. The enhanced training support is extended to local employees of companies that are registered or incorporated in Singapore.
I am currently in the midst of one of the courses identified under SkillsFuture Series. As I have taken the course before the launch of SkillsFuture Series, can I still enjoy the funding available under SkillsFuture Series?
As the individual has taken the course before the launch of SkillsFuture Series, existing course subsidies would apply.
For Training Providers
What is the selection criteria for private training providers to deliver courses under the SkillsFuture Series?
Training providers selected have either delivered SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), then-Singapore Workforce Development Agency or other public agencies supported programmes with proven track records of delivering strong training outcomes (e.g. placement/ retention/ productivity) or possess domain expertise with global foot-print. SSG will continue to review the selected training providers offering courses under the SkillsFuture Series, where relevant.
I am interested to offer my course under SF Series. How do I submit my course to be considered?
SSG selects training providers to offer courses under the SkillsFuture Series and will continue to review the selected training providers from time to time.
