Suspension of Kaplan Professional's Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications Approved Training Organisation Status

From 1 July 2019, Kaplan Professional’s Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Approved Training Organisation (ATO) status will be suspended for a period of 12 months. Accreditation will be revoked and funding from SSG will cease for all their WSQ courses for the same period. In December 2018, Kaplan Professional was suspended from delivering courses under the Leadership and People Management WSQ framework for six months.

NParks To Transform Singapore’s Landscape Sector With New 10-year Plan

The National Parks Board (NParks) today launched Singapore’s Landscape Sector Transformation Plan (LSTP), a tripartite effort that aims to elevate and grow the local landscape sector through digitalisation, mechanisation and professionalisation. The LSTP will equip the landscape workforce with the higher value skills necessary for greenery and landscape management in Singapore’s biophilic City in a Garden. Accompanying the enhancement of greenery and strengthening of urban ecosystems, the sector is expected to grow up to 30% by 2030 in terms of revenue and value-add per worker.

Convenient And Secure Authentication Of Education And Training Certificates Through Opencerts

Starting from this year, all graduates will receive digital certificates for (i) N, O and A Levels, (ii) ITE qualifications, (iii) diploma and degree qualifications from polytechnics, LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Autonomous Universities (AUs) and the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), as well as (iv) Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ). These digital certificates will be stored in the Skills Passports of their individual MySkillsFuture accounts. When they use these certificates for job applications, employers will be able to quickly and easily verify these digital certificates through OpenCerts (opencerts.io). This was announced by Minister for Education, Ong Ye Kung, at Temasek Polytechnic’s Graduation Ceremony this morning.

Streamlined Processes And Reduced Compliance Costs For Training Providers

Training providers will benefit from reduced compliance costs and streamlined processes from 1 July 2019. SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will revise processes and fees for Private Education Institutions (PEIs), Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) and non-WSQ training providers, while raising the overall quality of the training and adult education sector.
