23 SINGAPOREANS AND 28 EMPLOYERS CELEBRATED FOR SKILLS MASTERY AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Twenty-three Singaporeans and 28 employers were recognised for their
dedication towards skills mastery and skills development at the
SkillsFuture Fellowships and SkillsFuture Employer Awards ceremony held
this afternoon.
Organised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), the sixth edition of the
awards ceremony was graced by President Halimah Yacob, Patron of the
Awards and Guest of Honour, who presented the awards to the individual
and employer recipients. Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing
delivered the speech and Minister of State for Education and Manpower,
Ms Gan Siow Huang, was also in attendance.
The SkillsFuture Fellowships are conferred upon Singaporeans who are
skilled masters and respected in their respective fields, and who
champion lifelong learning and are committed to mentoring others. The
SkillsFuture Employer Awards recognise exemplary employers who are
strong advocates of continuous learning at the workplace, invested in
their employees’ skills development, and supported national manpower
objectives, such as SkillsFuture initiatives. A total of 143 individuals
and 134 employers have been honoured since the introduction of the
awards in 2016.
The SkillsFuture Employer Awards have been refreshed this year to
recognise more companies for their skills development efforts. A total
of 19 companies received the Gold award and nine companies received the
Silver award. The refreshed award recognises companies at different
stages of development in their workplace learning capabilities. For
example, some have put in place skills-based training programmes and
progressive HR practices that recognise skills acquisition, while others
are contributing towards the development of talent pipeline for their
industry. Companies are encouraged to reapply for the award. Six
companies – Metropolis Security Systems Pte Ltd, OCBC Bank, Prudential
Singapore Limited, Resorts World At Sentosa Pte Ltd, Shopee Singapore
and Singapore Airlines Limited – received the awards again this year.
