SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes

Work-study programmes offer valuable opportunities for individuals to deepen their skills in their chosen fields as they enter the workforce.

Education and Career Guidance

With the help of trained ECG counsellors, students in secondary schools will be exposed to a wide range of education and career options, and given opportunities to make informed post-secondary education choices. This will continue in ITE, polytechnics, junior colleges and universities to help students make informed choices for their careers.

Enhanced Internships

Enhanced Internships will be rolled out to two-thirds of polytechnic courses and half of ITE courses over the next two years, so that students can learn through meaningful work assignments and industry exposure to deepen and apply both technical and soft skills. This will also help students make better career choices through real-world exposure to the industries.

SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Graduate Programmes

Individuals in these programmes will spend time working on industry projects in their companies while completing postgraduate modules and complementary applied research work.

SkillsFuture Series

The SkillsFuture Series is a curated list of short, industry-relevant training programmes that focus on emerging skills. As a start, we have identified eight categories under the SkillsFuture Series: (i) data analytics, (ii) finance, (iii) tech-enabled services, (iv) digital media, (v) cyber security, (vi) entrepreneurship, (vii) advanced manufacturing, and (viii) urban solutions.

MySkillsFuture

MySkillsFuture is a one-stop education, training and career guidance online portal that will empower every Singaporean to plan their lifelong learning journeys. They can discover their interests, abilities and career aspirations, and explore various education pathways before they enter the workforce. For individuals in their mid-careers, MySkillsFuture serves to inform individuals of skills that they may need to remain relevant in the workforce, and suitable training opportunities to plug skills gaps. MySkillsFuture is also for all students (starting from Primary 5) from MOE schools and PSEIs.

SkillsFuture Work-Study Certificate

The Work-Study Certificate (WSCert) is part of the suite of SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes offered by Institute of Higher Learning (IHLs) and appointed private providers, as well as the industry. WSCert provide individuals with more opportunities, to develop new skills and knowledge, and build on what they have acquired in school, through a work-study arrangement.

SkillsFuture Work-Study Diploma

SkillsFuture Work-Study Post-Diploma

Under this programme, fresh polytechnic graduates will get placed with employers and learn through structured on-the-job training and institution based training. Employers can receive up to $15,000 to offset the cost of developing and providing the structured training.

Skills Framework

The Skills Framework is developed for the Singapore workforce by the government together with employers, unions, and professional bodies. It provides up-to-date information on employment, career pathways, occupations, job roles, existing and emerging skills, as well as relevant education and training programmes. Employers can use the Skills Framework to design progressive human resource practices to recognise skills and make informed decisions on skills investment.

SkillsFuture Work-Study Degree

The SkillsFuture Work-Study Degree Programmes allow students to acquire deep technical and essential generic skills, which will facilitate the students’ transition from the universities to the workplace after graduation.

TechSkills Accelerator(TeSA)

TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) is a framework of initiatives for professional development for current information and communications technology (ICT) professionals and non-ICT professionals to upgrade and acquire new skills and domain knowledge that are in demand, and to stay competitive and meet the challenges of a fast-moving digital landscape. Employers in ICT and non-ICT companies can leverage on TeSA’s programmes to attract fresh or mid-career professionals to their companies, or to equip existing employees with the relevant ICT skills.

SkillsFuture Credit aims to encourage individual ownership of skills development and lifelong learning. Introduced in 2015, all Singaporeans aged 25 and above will receive an opening credit of S$500.

The SkillsFuture Work-Study Degree Programmes allow students to acquire deep technical and essential generic skills, which will facilitate the students’ transition from the universities to the workplace after graduation.

SkillsFuture Fellowships

The SkillsFuture Fellowship is a tripartite initiative that recognises Singapore Citizens who have acquired deep skills through significant work experience in particular industries or job functions, are champions of lifelong learning and are committed to contributing to the skills development of others. Award recipients will receive a monetary award of S$10,000 each to support their journey towards skills mastery in their respective field.

The SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit encourages employers to invest in both enterprise and workforce transformation. Eligible firms will receive a one-off $10,000 credit to cover up to 90% of out-of-pocket expenses for supportable enterprise development and workforce transformation programmes.
